The stories of women creating success and a strong sense of self.

From her recent appearance on The Voice Australia to her passion for PR and marketing, she has an infectious passion for chasing every single dream. We had a chat with her about pursuing multiple paths, the lessons she’s learnt along the way, and how she looks at success going into the future.

AACUTE

Back in 2012, after studying illustration and frequenting craft markets, Julie decided to showcase her vintage and designer clothes, illustrations and

hand-made jewellery. The jewellery was a weekly hit, and so Kelly also joined in selling her hand-made candles.

FORM BY T

I met Tessa at the Fitzroy Mills Market a few months back when I stumbled across her lovely timber fitted stall. The clothing aesthetic relaxed, form on the body is soft and the colours earthy in burnt orange olive and oatmeal. I immediately felt invited and welcomed into her space and wanted to find out more.

BIO GLITZ

We all know the wrap on microbeads. Tiny plastic circles that (were) used to exfoliate our delicate skin, washed down the drain and left for our ocean animals to consume, only before being fished, cooked and entering our own beautiful bodies! No thank you.

TREE CHANGE DOLLS

Many women (and men) today will surely remember the bobble headed Bratz doll (I will admit I had a collection of around 16 at once) Their big googly eyed, heavily contoured face and disproportionate frames were not of social concern in their peak period during the early 2000’s.

THE REAL CATWALK

On Saturday the 2nd of December at 2pm, an army of diversely powerful women stripped down to their underwear and bravely took on both the New York weather and a very confused audience.

HAKEA SWIM

The native Australian plant genus ‘Hakea’ is known for its rare and diverse beauty coupled with extreme resilience. These are qualities that swimwear designer and Hakea Swim founder Casey Eastwell describes as being the essence of the woman befitting her brand.

OKAY LADY

By now, you have most likely learnt of the term JOMO (the Joy Of Missing Out) which involves taking pleasure in putting away your electronics, saying no to a social event and choosing to enjoy spending quality time with yourself.

BILLIE

FINALLY, the world’s first razor brand that actually celebrates body hair! Well we all know that no one woman can be completely hairless, yet this is something the beauty industries marketing has led us to believe what is expected.

TWO HILLS

It’s difficult for Rihannon to define her work in a few short words (which she decides are distinctive, refined and restrained), but she unknowingly allows her aesthetic to shine through with her personality.

LOV

All women will know the many realities of being a female. Body hair, stretch marks, cat calling and an equally voiced opinion.

SOUSZY

Souszy is a collection of every day lace underwear made for the every day women. The Co- Founders, Ebony and Laura explored the idea blurring the underwear drawer lines between casual and sexy underwear and replacing this with a versatile lace panty.

SPARKKE CHANGE

Having a crisp cider and chatting about sexual consent or sipping a pale ale and facing the reality of climate change aren’t necessarily things that would pair well, but Sarah and Agi of SPARKKE are two Aussie brewers that are encouraging us to ask these q’s with the aid of a good brew.

YAYVM

A mindless doodle Amy Marsh drew on the back of an envelope for a customer, transformed an entertaining thought into her fabulous ‘running lady’ a year later.

PRIVATE POTS

You may have noticed some very interesting vessels popping up lately thanks to creative ceramists. Because of the ever transforming social standards of the world, we (female identifying) are slaying the social stigma attached to boobs and vaginas claiming to be taboo.

PINK BITS

I was grant the privilege of getting to know the creative mind behind ‘Pink Bits’- an Instagram account devoted to female empowerment. Twenty-three year old graphic designer Christine, was born and bred on the northern beaches of Sydney.
